I am Jack Daugherty a 72 year old cancer survivor and have spent most of my adult life working on medium and large machinery. Although the last 40 years I have been in the crane service business.
During this time I have probably worked on most every crane and electric motor manufactured. A major factor of all lifting equipment design is the requirement to stop, hold and accurately position the tremendous loads being moved. With a little smarts and 30+ years of experience, I designed, engineered, and built a Crane Motor Brake.
The Patent and Trademark Commission in Washington, D.C. researched back to early 1900s to see if anyone had ever built a similar brake – they found mine to be superior and my brake is the only one referenced as a failsafe. I was awarded a 20 year Utility Patent.
